Every ending is a new beginning.
It’s a beautiful thing when any relationship lasts 36 years, and Shadows Bar has been nurturing the University of Auckland student body for several generations. The birthplace of just as many good ideas as bad ones, a jug at Shadows is a rite of passage akin to donning a graduation robe.
In mid-November, the original incarnation of Shads will shut its doors for the last time, BUT! This isn’t the end: in the new year, like a phoenix from the ashes, Shadows will rise again - but in a new location.
As a space soaked in more than just history, Shads deserves to be celebrated and remembered; so, come and give it a send-off worthy of the institution that it is. With exams just around the corner this would be the perfect time to enjoy a quiet bevvy and a wander down memory lane with us.
If you have any photos of your time at Shadows, please do send them through - we'd love to be able to fully appreciate its evolution over the years.
We are excited for Shads 2020, and we cannot wait to create more memories with you in the following years to come - but in our new location.
Shads will continue to be open Monday- Friday 12pm until late and Saturday 7pm until late.
